IGP Takes Over Investigation Into Mysterious Death of Delta Governor’s Aide, Shimite Bello

The Inspector General of Police (IGP), Kayode Egbetokun, has officially taken over the investigation into the controversial death of Mrs. Shimite Bello Love, the late Special Adviser on Trade and Export to the Delta State Governor. This development follows a petition by the bereaved family, who accused the Delta State Police Command of conducting an “untidy investigation.”

Mrs. Bello was confirmed dead around 3:30 a.m. on Easter Monday at St. Luke’s Hospital, Asaba, after she was rushed there from her residence. Her sudden passing sparked widespread suspicion and public outcry over the unclear circumstances surrounding her death.

According to Chief (Barr) Kimashinor Nwakalor-Imu, the Head of the Nwakalor family, the IGP’s Monitoring Unit has now taken full control of the case file, which includes the arrest of a female pharmacist who allegedly administered oral and intravenous treatments to Mrs. Bello 24 hours before her death.

“The case involving the murder of Shimite Bello is currently under investigation by the IGP Monitoring Unit,” Nwakalor-Imu said. He further alleged that the deceased’s husband, Mr. Love, is currently on the run and unreachable, having allegedly been released by the Delta State Police Command. “Mr. Love is presently on the run from the Police. The Asaba Command that set him free cannot locate him, and all his known phone lines have been switched off,” he added.

The Delta Police Command’s spokesperson, SP Bright Edafe, confirmed the transfer of the case to the Force Headquarters, stating simply, “Case has been transferred to Force Headquarters.”

In a related development, the burial plans initially scheduled for June 27 in Ebu, Oshimili North Local Government Area of Delta State, are now uncertain due to the ongoing investigation.

Mrs. Shimite Bello was a respected figure in Delta State’s business and trade development circles, and her death has drawn national attention. The involvement of the IGP’s Monitoring Unit marks a significant turn in the quest for justice, with hopes high that the truth behind her death will soon come to light.

Fabmimi Blog will continue to follow this developing story. Stay tuned.
