The Nigeria Police Force has confirmed that it has commenced a full investigation into the explosion that occurred along the Mararaba-Nyanya Bypass, on the outskirts of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), on Monday, May 26, 2025.
In a statement released by the FCT Police Public Relations Officer, SP Josephine Adeh, the command received a distress call at approximately 2:50 PM regarding the explosion.
“Upon receipt of the report, officers from the Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) Unit were immediately deployed to the scene. The affected area was swiftly cordoned off for clearance and analysis to ensure the safety of commuters and residents,” SP Adeh stated.
She further disclosed that one male victim was rescued at the scene and is currently receiving treatment at a nearby hospital.
While the exact cause of the explosion remains unknown, the police confirmed that a detailed forensic investigation is underway to determine the nature and source of the blast.
The FCT Police Command urged residents to remain calm and assured the public that there is no immediate cause for alarm. Citizens are encouraged to go about their normal activities but remain alert.
