In the wake of recent deadly attacks by suspected herdsmen that claimed 15 lives and left several injured in Aondoana community, Gwer West Local Government Area of Benue State, prominent philanthropist and businessman, Prince Joseph Mtom Aondona, has made significant contributions to support security efforts and assist affected residents.
On Monday, June 9, 2025, Prince Mtom donated a Toyota Hilux van and five motorcycles to security agencies in the area to enhance surveillance and patrol operations. He also laid the foundation for a new police station and residential quarters for officers, aiming to boost long-term security presence in the community.
Describing the gesture as purely humanitarian, Prince Mtom emphasized that he was responding to the urgent needs of his people, not pursuing any political ambition. He called on privileged Nigerians to contribute meaningfully to peace and development efforts across the country. Alongside the security donations, he provided food items and essential supplies including rice, seasoning, salt, groundnut oil, and mattresses for affected families.
Community leaders expressed deep appreciation for the support. Representing the Ter Nagi, HRH Daniel Abomtse, Chief Jen Ukura commended Prince Mtom’s compassion and urged other well-meaning individuals to follow his example. The Divisional Police Officer of Gwer West, SP Charles Gadzama, reassured residents of his commitment to restoring peace, while other notable figures like Coach Godwin Uwua and Hon. Patrick Modom encouraged collaboration between the community and security agencies to prevent future attacks.
