I’ve converted from Islam to Christianity – Korede Bello reveals

Nigerian music star Korede Bello has revealed that he converted from Islam to Christianity.

Speaking in a video message shared via his Instagram page recently, Bello explained that because he was born a Muslim, he had to study the bible extensively on his own when he embraced Christianity.

The singer questioned the emphasis on the cross by some Christians, arguing that Jesus is no longer on the cross but in paradise, according to the bible.

He, however, noted that he is not against the symbolic use of the cross in Christendom.

He added that Christians should be more focus on spirituality, stressing that the cross was not the destination but the cross was the doorway.

“Does Jesus still belong on the cross?,” he asked. “Before you crucify me, please be aware that I am a Christian and Christ has already died for me, he has already be crucified for me,” he said.

“The reason I asked that question, does Jesus still belong on the cross, is because Jesus is not on the cross anymore. Jesus has ascended. The cross was not the destination, the cross was the doorway.

“Even when he was on the cross, he told the thief next to him that ‘today, you would join me in paradise.’ And the last sighting of Jesus by the disciplines was him ascending. He is seated right next to the Father.

“Jesus never said remember me through the cross. I’m not saying that the cross is not important. One day, I was looking on the cross while praying and it just hit me that he [Jesus] is not longer on the cross. So, when I think Jesu, I think a part of me seated right next to the Father. That is where my identity is. That is the root of my faith,” the singer explained.

“Mind you, I was born a Muslim. I was a Muslim. So I obviously had to study the bible own my own…. I think our faith and identity is in the Christ that has already ascended and is right next to the Father. So, when we are praying, we are praying with somebody or to somebody or through somebody who is not on earth or on the tree,” he added.
