UK artists inspired me to do music – Wizkid’s son, Champz

Boluwatife Balogun, aka Champz, a song of Nigerian singer Wizkid and a rising rapper, has revealed that he was inspired by British artists to do music.

In a recent interview with Glitch Africa, Champz, who released his debut EP ‘Champion’s Arrival’ in November 2025, disclosed that the project was inspired by UK drill stars J Hus, Asco, Nines and Clavish.

“The artists who influenced my sound the most on my debut EP are J Hus, Asco, Nines and Clavish. Those are my main inspirations,” he said.
Champz, however, added that being from a family with music background influenced him to write music and produce beats from a very young age.
On whether he is under any pressure to create a niche for himself in the music industry, the 14-year-old said, “There is no pressure. I’m young, I’m 14. I still have a long way to go. I have done a lot for my age. And I thank God, my mum and everyone that was present for me when I was still doing my things. No pressure.”
